Ring Dome, Milan

A delicate dome of over one thousand translucent hula hoops, designed by Minsuk Cho in collaboration with Storefront for Art and Architecture for their 25 year jubilee. For Milan Salone del Mobile, Storefront reconstructed the Ring Dome in the center of the Vittorio Emmanuele Galleria. For the occasion, Pernilla Ohrstedt and Minsuk Cho redesigned the Pavilion as a completely freestanding sphere, only delicately touching the precious Galleria floor. It arrived flat packed and was constructed in one single night.

The Ring Dome hosted events organised by Abitare magazine and Storefront and included a 100-minute dialogue between Hans Ulrich Obrist, Pierre Paulin and Rem Koolhaas and a day-long domino interview with 50 participants, beginning with Naoto Fukasawa and Gaetano Pesce in conversation with Oliviero Toscani.
